My name is Carol Kim Chung, and I am a Korean American born and raised in the foothills of Pasadena and Altadena. There were a few families similar to mine. Although I stood out physically, I have always felt a strong connection to the community that has shaped me. I am an alumnus of San Rafael, Eliot Middle School, and John Muir High School.

Altadena became a key part of my personal history through participating in the Pasadena Unified School District’s busing program. I was bused to Eliot Middle School, where I formed lasting friendships with peers from Linda Vista, Noyes, and Luther Burbank. These relationships created important memories and deepened my love for Altadena, shaping my sense of self today.
